Glitter experiment...glass

After trying glitter on my shoe makeover a few days ago, i thought i should try my luck with glass! I read about two different techniques on the web : applying mod podge and sprinkling glitter on it or mixing glitter with mod podge and then apply it on your glass. I had a glass vase and a bowl lying around and doing nothing so i decided to experiment with those two.
I do not have mod podge and i have not searched for it to be honest. I do my work with good classic white glue. I have tried it on fabric, plastic and paper and got great results! Only this time, because the new one i bought was very thick, i used some water to make it easier to work with.
Let's get started... i bought red glitter , not glitter glue because i had big surfaces to cover and i wanted full coverage. I prepared my work surface, made coffee of course and started the experiment!

I did not mix the glue with water here. I applied it straight to the glass and sprinkled with glitter. I did one side at a time, because the glue would dry otherwise. After finishing with the first coat i directly applied the second one. This is the bowl after one coat...

 And after the second one...

After that, because i am not patient, i put the bowl into the oven ( NOT preheated) and turned it to 150 C (or 300 F) to dry the glue. It takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on the surface and the amount of glue. You will understand it is ready when the glue becomes transparent. See how the glue is still white on this photo ? After you glue dries out, turn off the oven and let your glass cool down on the oven.

The results...

I was not happy to see that. It looks like a sponge, don't you agree? So, i covered the outside of it again with two coats of glue and glitter, put it back into the oven to let it dry and i came up with this...

To seal the glitter and not have it transferring onto our hands i mixed some white glue with a little water and covered it. It dried out really fast and did the job perfectly!

Not bad in the end! It looks better than it did before!

I'll get back with the results of the second way to glitter glass! Oh...not to forget, careful with that glitter. It covers everything! Our balcony looks like a disco ball!
